Milk Plastic

Aim: I want to find out how to turn milk into plastic.

watch this and i'll give you cookies

Method:

Equipment

  • Oven or stove
  • Measuring cup
  • tablespoon
  • a cup of milk
  • pot or microwaveable container
  • white vinegar
  • paper towels
  • spoon mug
  • optional - food colouring, glitter
  • teaspoon
  • plate or petri dish
  • plate
     instructions

pour a cup of milk from a measuring jug (if you were using a jug like THIS -

you would want to pour about 600mLs) into a pot or microwaveable container. if you're using a beaker then you pour 200mLs.

then, you heat the milk in a microwave or on a stove until it is steaming.

put it on a bench or something and add four teaspoons of vinegar to a mug.

add the hot milk to the mug with the vinegar

once the milk is added and the vinegar has taken its effects, stir the milk with a spoon

stack four layers of paper towels on a surface that is safe to get damp

scoop out the curds with a spoon and place them on the paper towels

fold the paper towels over the curds and pres down on them to absorb any excess liquid

knead all the curds together into a ball of dough

once you're done, mold and colour the dough as much as you like

if you want to, add glitter

put the dough on a plate or Petri dish and let it settle overnight

and you've done it!
